Happy Friday everyone!

I'm headed to NYC tomorrow for work for a few days but will try to keep up here and post as I go. I'll be working, eating and meeting up with old friends so it should be quite the fun/busy trip. I don't have many plans as far as shopping goes but I'm hoping to hit up Topshop (I've never been) and H&M since we don't have those here. I'll probably make a swing around Bergdorf's and Henri Bendel's just for good measure!

Hoping maybe I can find this number while at Topshop...
I'm not usually a fan of bows, but I can make an exception for this little gal.

Thinking about purchasing a set of these stainless steel straws. What a great addition for a dinner party of shower of some sort. Love the look of these, and at only $9.95 for a set of 4 they are a bargain too!

Skirt - Anthropologie, Kaftan - Matthew Willamson, Dress - Tibi, Earrings - a bientot, Painting - Michelle Armas

After spotting that blue and gold column on a blog a few weeks ago, I find my self going back to it daily. I love the look of that worn, pale turquoise and gold and how the complement each other. I am also a huge fan of Michelle Armas' artwork and new she'd have something that went right along with my theme.

I met my family down in Florida for a few days and got an emergency call from them to "BRING THE AZULENE CREAM!", seems they too were tricked by the cool ocean breeze. If you haven't ever used this cream, I have to tell you that it is a miracle worker of sorts. I came in the last day looking like a lobster and after liberally applying for a couple of days, I have seen no peeling and what was sunburn is now turning into a tan. We've been using this stuff for years, but every time I offer it to someone it is new to them. So, if you are headed to the beach or the pool any time soon you should definitely pick up a tube. While it's not exactly cheap, it is definitely worth every dime!

I've been on quite the vegetable kick lately and was recently looking for some new ways to whip up my old favorites; enter my nee sous chef The Cooking Light iPad app. So far I have made the cucumber salad above (add sesame chili oil for a little more spice), the curried cauliflower (and broccoli) below, and a few other dishes. The dishes are healthy, easy to make and full of flavor. Of course it's not just vegetables, but those are the only recipes I've tried out so far.  They offer the option to plan out full four course meals, nutritional values on each dish, and ways to save and print the recipes you like.

I have noticed these fine, thin (accordion) pleats all over magazines and websites lately. They seem so dynamic the way they are always pictured flowing in the wind or wistfully twirling. I wonder if in person the fabric would need to be heavier to be flattering or if these light chiffons are true to their pictures and not clingy in the wrong places.

I'm a huge fan of Sheridan French's clothing line, so it was no surprise to me when I fell in love with some of the photos of her Fort Worth home. The beautiful, bold prints are what I adore about her line and the same goes with her house. Her mom is an interior designer so obviously apple didn't fall far from the tree on this one. Although I am not crazy about the whole house, below are some of the rooms I do admire. I think my favorite things are the curtains in the living room and the huge mirror in the entry hall.

Check out her blog at and her clothing line at

Favorite summer colors...

Updates to the website coming soon - lots of fun new earrings and necklaces in bright, beautiful colors!

White linen pants by Nanette Lepore from Shopbop, Coral from Furbish, Shoes from Tory Burch, White runway dress from Tibi, and white shift by Hive and Honey from Piperlime

Fourth of July weekend always reminds me that we technically only have two months left to wear our all white ensembles. Although I am not a huge stickler to this rule, I do tend to tone it down a little after Labor Day weekend and usually pack away things that are all white and very summery materials, like linen and light cotton. So, if you haven't been taking advantage of all of your white, here's a little reminder that the timer has started!

Kate in Canada

I'm loving all of the photos of William and Kate in Canada. She pulls of the conservative look very well, while still staying young and refreshing. While I'm sure she will stick with this more traditional, conservative look while in California, I can't wait to see if she mixes up her style a little to fit the laid-back California feel.
