I just started this new book and want to invite you to read along with me! I can't say that I am starting any sort of book club because, well, I'm not really sure how that would go, but just a few pages into the book and I already want to tell you all to read it. Anna Mitchael's writing is witty, entertaining and thoughtful. I know this is going to be a great read, so join me!

If you are looking for good dinner side or even a main course, try this line of risotto I found at Central Market. Like all risottos, this one takes a little TLC, but trust me, if I can make it without messing it up so can you. Risotto is one of my favorite dishes in the world so I am excited about this low(er) calorie version and to try the array of other flavors! If you can't find it at your local grocery store it looks like you can buy straight from the site. Enjoy!

When I heard Calypso was the next designer collection for Target I wasn't overjoyed. While I love the line, I didn't really know what to expect. But wow, have you seen the previews? It looks amazing. The line debuts this weekend so don't forget to hit the store (or website) early! Word is that some of the pieces are made from real linen and silk so just because they will be part of the Target line doesn't mean they will be poor quality. On top of all of that, the home items look great too - gold pouffe and an elephant teapot? yes please!

Here are a few images from the preview:

I think the photos say enough about my experience at the Blow Dry Bar, but if you need more keep reading!

I will definitely be frequenting this place in the coming months as the Houston humidity seems to be increasing by the minute. The girl who did my hair was informative, sweet and overall did a great job. I sipped a glass of champagne while profusely apologizing for the tangles and repeatedly explaining that it really doesn't hurt when you pull and tug at my curls - I've spent years doing the same thing, and still I was through in 45 minutes. My hair lasted three nights and even then I really didn't need to wash it (but just had to on principle) - it still felt clean and looked great. They use Kevin Murphy products which are paraben and sulfate free making your 'do look fab last for days.

I have already booked my next appointment and you should too!

I tend to be a moth to a flame when it comes to coffee table books, and these great titles are ones I have been eyeing lately.  I love the exterior look of them all and know the interiors are just as colorful and entertaining. Since l am living without a roommate for the first time in seven years, I have found coffee table books to be a great way to fill space and brighten an area when needed. I will definitely be adding a few of these to my collection.

Then spend even more time that you should be doing something else by "painting" your picture on the computer...

Good news Houstonians, your new best friend has just moved into the Lamar/River Oaks Shopping Center. Opening tomorrow, The Blow Dry Bar, will be making your life easier one appointment at a time.

Native Houstonian and experienced salon professional, Rebecca Tallerine, wanted to open a business that was a "tangible, affordable luxury" and I think she's right on the money with this one. The concept is one that we've been needing in Houston (or really hot, humid South Texas) for quite a while: "Wash, Blow and Go" as they like to say. At only $35 a blowout and $55 for an updo, the stylists will have you out in 30-45 minutes. If you think you're going to be a regular, you can buy a monthly membership of two or four blowouts and receive a discount or just stop by for a walk-in appointment.

As you can see from the photos above, the salon is decked in light wood floors, smooth white walls, and beautiful peacock blue accents. Hop on over to the bar and choose from the cocktail menu of mixed 'dos, with apropos names like Shaken (wavy & messy), Neat (classic, smooth, sleek with body), and With a Twist (an updo), all while relaxing in the soft white leather chairs and enjoying a complimentary cocktail and an old movie (HD TV's will be screening hits like Pretty Woman and Breakfast at Tiffany's).

This is one local bar that you'll leave refreshed and revived with no potential regret the morning after!

If you haven't had a chance to check out the fabulous new location of Tootsies, Thursday is the perfect time. Head over to the new swanky new spot in the West Ave shopping center from 5:30-7:30 for a great event hosted by Houston Tidbits. Everyone will receive $25 off their purchase of $100 or more and the first 250 guests will land a swag bag full of warm weather accessories.

If the Slim Ritas and Canopy treats don't entice you, how about a quick blowout or brow shaping? I can't think of a better way to start of the weekend!

Don't miss the vintage Vogue covers on Gilt today! Most of the images date back to the '20s and would be a great addition to any home or office.

I'm off to crazy town this weekend but will be back next week with regular posts.
Have a great weekend!

Add the Midas touch to your bathroom/desk/kitchen with these airtight Metallic Gold Zebra Jars from Furbish. I think you know how we feel about African animals here at a Fuller life, so what's better than shiny African animals?! I can't think of much. And at $15 a jar, you should definitely go for the trifecta.

Busy bee

I'm still working on my ELD project and hope to be through and launched very soon. In the mean time, I will have to continue to neglect my loyal readers while I devote all of my Internet time to the jewelry. Having said that, here are a few things I have seen/read lately that I think you may enjoy:

Tasty Kitchen Blog
Hope to make this soon. Reminds me of my favorite salad at Santa Cafe.

mysanantonio.com
San Antonio Express News divulges the 10 restaurants with the best fried chicken in SA. Fried chicken is definitely one of the things I miss most about living in Georgia.

newyorktimes.com
This New York Times article on beautiful India Hicks who knows all too well about the details of a royal wedding (she was one of Di's bridesmaids and her mother one of Queen Elizabeth's). Oh, and news that the Royal Wedding iPad app has launched. Phew.

chron.com
News that Uchi is coming to town this summer. I will note that I have known this a while and for some reason forgot to add it to my post about the cookbook the other day.

elledecor.com
Love this month's "In Living Color" feature on elledecor.com. I love the bold use of color in each of the interiors, especially this purple number!

www.modernluxury.com/houston
Houston Magazine's review of Latin Bites Cafe. I mentioned here that I wanted to check out the buzz and now I'm convinced. Maybe I'll have my own review soon...

USA Today
One of my favorites, Lyle Lovett, dishes on his 10 favorite spots in Houston.

Apparently all I've been reading about lately is food.
Have a great week!
