Remember a couple of weeks ago when I posted about the Urban Market Houston? Well I ended up going and had a wonderful time. The day I went was absolutely beautiful and the market was a buzz with wheelers and dealers from all over.

Above you can see some of the goods I purchased from a few different vendors: A. Ostrich eggs from a quite unfriendly vendor I may add, but I couldn't pass them up as she was selling them for quite a steal. B. Blue & white Chinese ginger jars from a very friendly local vendor. C. Neither the vendor nor I are quite sure what these little trays were originally meant to be used for, but I love them and they look great on my coffee table! I also picked up a really neat, old spice drawer but I haven't quite figured out what to do with it so it's currently just sitting on my kitchen counter.

Overall I would recommend hitting the market next time it comes to town (I think May), I wasn't there very long and still left with some great steals. A word of warning though: this is not exactly a flea market so don't go looking for impressive deals on furniture and art, but do be prepared to scout out the cheaper stuff within the riches!

huh?

If you've read this blog for any amount of time you know that I am a big fan of J. Crew. What's not to love about the wide range of styles and prices? I'LL TELL YOU WHAT:

Please don't wear this unless you're painting your house. Having said that, please don't buy a $300 coverall to paint your house.

I am of the opinion that no one over the age of 10 (MAYBE 12) should be caught wearing overalls.

The rest of the new arrivals are normal, so what happened here?

I couldn't have said it better myself...

So I won't... Check out High Gloss Mag's choices for Oscar-watching-essentials:

1. champagne glasses 2. champagne 3. cheese 4. ice bucket 5. Hermes chair 6. popcorn 7. a lucite and mirror bar cart  8. vintage Academy Award program 8. a touch of gold 9. vintage photos

Release N Run

If your dog is anything like the dogs I hang around, he/she most likely has a fit when they see their leash. And when your dog weighs more than you do this can pose quite the issue. Enter the Release N Run collar from Rad Dog. It's a two-in-one collar (that I saw in Real Simple - March 2011) and a brilliant idea if you ask me. The collar has four foot retractable leash built in and completely hidden when not in use. No more trying to catch your dogs face while attempting to attach the leash! Available in two sizes: 20-50 lbs and 50-110 lbs, $32.95 and $34.95 respectively. Buy here!

If I had pierced ears I'd swoop up a pair of each of these great earrings from J. Crew's new arrivals. They could pass for fancy or everyday (well maybe not the chandelier) and are a great price. They definitely look more expensive than they are and costume jewelry that looks this legit (not hokey) can sometimes cost a pretty penny. They each come in more colors than I show and you can find them here.

WHAT

Oliva Palermo has teamed up with Tibi... does it get any better than that?
"We asked one of our favorite street-style girls, Olivia Palermo, to choose the Tibi clothing that she’d like be photographed in during the NYC, London, Paris & Milan shows – and to style them in her own personal way. She brought piles upon piles of her signature accessories and we let her have a go. With a table full of Bobbi Brown makeup to choose from, and hair styling team Kevin Ryan & Frank Rizzieri (because you can’t say that a good blow dry isn’t a bonus in our “reality”), we let our amazingly talented Brooklyn photographer Reed Young catch her in her equally contrived but very natural element." -the Tibi Blog

Here are some of my favorite looks:

And then the stylish biatch at the Tibi show days later...

I see seashells

With their unglazed, rough exterior and translucent, smooth interior, these nesting bowls mimic the ocean's seashells. They'd be pretty displayed on your coffee table or used as serving dishes. Best part is that they are dishwasher safe!  This Etsy designer has many different seashell-looking pieces and some other great finds too. Check it out here: Element Clay Studio.

Houston: Urban Market

If you're in Houston this weekend don't miss the Urban Market show on Saturday or Sunday.
Saturday is an Early Shopping Event - Tickets are $25.
Complimentary beverages & hors d'oeuvres.
Sunday tickets are $5.
Held only three times a year, this show is supposed to be amazing. I'll let you know if I leave with any great treasures!
With the start of Fashion Week on Wednesday, thecovetuer.com (formerly thecoveted.com) has combined with vogue.com to take a glimpse into the fabulous life of fashion insiders and their picks for what they can't live without during fashion week. Watch the slide show here.

While you are there take a look at all of the other fun pictures on the Coveteur. It's become one of my favorite activities to see in to the closets and lives of global trendsetters.

Happy Friday! :)

And don't forget it's not too late to shop Elizabeth Lanier Designs for Cupid's day!

(I promise that's the last time you'll see that image ... until next year!)

Wishing

I had this cape to battle the dreary weather in South Texas. Really I just wish I had a cape, but this color is pretty great!

and...
This Mexican Lime Soup to warm me up because my cape probably won't be enough in this freezing weather!!

High Gloss debut

High Gloss Magazine debuted yesterday and if you haven't taken a look yet you definitely should! I first wrote about High Gloss here and have to say, after looking through the debut I am still very excited to see what's in store. As you know, I'm a big fan of Furbish and they feature its owner on page 57. Check it out now!
